Component 3 - The Floating Injector The component in the photograph is the floating injector head of the RATTWorks hybrid rocket motor. The floating injector head consists of 3 O-rings, a brass nipple, and an anodised aluminium injector headpiece. Note, the 3 O-rings should be lubricated before use, with a Nitrous safe grease such as Krytox. The plastic fill hose for the Nitrous Oxide oxidiser is threaded through this floating injector head, and the nipple nut is tightened to secure the hose in position. The smaller section of the injector head, with the small O-ring, slides into the top end of the fuel grain. |

Component 4 - The Graphite Nozzle The component at the back in the photograph is the hybrid rocket motor graphite nozzle. The graphite nozzles on the RATTWorks H-70 and I-70 hybrid rocket motors are designed for single use, due to the nozzle erosion rate, and a new graphite nozzle is included with each fuel grain reload, so there is, in any case, no point in re-using a used graphite nozzle.
The phenolic sleeve shown, fits over the nozzle, and ensures a good fit in the rear of the fuel grain, before the end closure is fitted and tightened up.
